What a great day with the kids! We visited many wonderful galleries, talked to amazing artists, and ate wonderful ice cream.
Our first stop was at
Building Character; an amazing place filled with art, vintage, clothing and architectural salvage.
We then stopped at
The Framing Concept, where
Sharon Willet was demoing her amazing talent with water colors.
Our next stop was at
Annex 24 Art Gallery. Here the kids got to participate in a community art project, build sculptures from marshmallows and toothpicks and make Mother's Day cards. Stop by Annex 24 and see the art hung on the outside of the building!
After Annex 24 we continued our exploration of galleries along Prince Street. We stopped in may different places, talked to artists, met a cute puppy and got hungry.
The kids voted for ice cream and off we went to
Carmen and David's Creamery. I had chocolate covered pretzel, boy was that good! Chris had strawberry, I got to taste it and it will be my first choice next time! Sarah had chocolate chip cookie dough, it was loaded with chips and hunks of dough. All the ice cream is made right on the premises. They have a rotating list of flavors and it changes quite often.
With full bellies we stopped at
Julia Swartz's Gallery. She was also having a community painting project. For a donation to
The Water Street Rescue Mission, you could add to an ocean scene painting. My daughter added the last little bit to this collaborative work.

I love how she paints mermaids! |
We ended our day at
Tellus 360. I had never been in this shop before. It is filled with wonderful art, fair trade and up cycled pieces made right here in Lancaster County. Stop in if you can, wonderful place to check out.
We had an amazing day filled with art at Art Walk 2012!
